I stayed with a friend in Omaha last night. Said friend drove me to Elmwood, NE where I hop on the MoPac trail. I hiked to Eagle, NE where I am staying the night with family. The first four miles weren't bad. It was at the half way point, where I started questioning myself. Why am I doing this? I told myself to keep going. I had to start pushing myself. I started getting tired. My feet felt like they were on fire despite the moleskin I put on my feet to protect them from blisters. My shoulders feeling the weight of my pack. I decided to take my pants off and just hike in my boxers and T-shirt because of the heat and humidity. Then two miles away from Eagle, NE I saw a storm starting to roll in. Luckily it was only a light rain, and not a down pour. I was glad to see my ride waiting on the side of the trial as I approached the town of Eagle. Despite the pain in my feet and shoulders, it was a satisfying day trying to reach my destination. I will have to puch myself tommorow if I plan on reaching the outskirts of Lincoln. Overall I am grateful for this challenge to push myself and build up my self esteem and mindset.
